No trumpet blasts
(Sing to Kingsfold)

No trumpet blasts prepared Your way
Departing Heaven’s throne,
For You left Your glory high above
And You made the Earth Your home.
Some lowly shepherds were the first
When they heard of God’s great plan
As the angels sang of peace on Earth
And Emmanuel became man.

When the sick heard of Your healing words
In hope they came to You;
So You quietly cured them from their ills
And taught of life anew.
And with Mary, Martha in their loss
You went to Lazarus’ grave:
‘Come out’ You called, away with death!
New life to them You gave.

Betrayed by friend who’d walked Your path
And condemned by hate and lies,
You were taken to Golgotha’s hill
Amidst the jeering cries.
You bore the cross for all mankind,
Accepting all the shame,
And wrought the Covenant of Grace
With Your life, and blood, and pain.

To the tomb they came: ‘Why do you seek
The living with the dead?
He is not here’ the angel cried
‘He has risen as He said.’
You ascended into Heaven at last –
What a joyful welcome back home!
With the trumpet blasts and angel choirs
You took up Your rightful throne.

No more pain and suffering for the Lamb
Who once died to bring us to Him,
For ever worshipped and adored
Amidst the cherubim.
